High volume of calls due to storm damage

We are receiving a high number of calls due to reports of storm damage following the weekends storm.

Please bear with us as we try to assist; call waiting time may be longer than expected over the next few days. You can also log repairs by emailing [email protected] or using MyNWH via our website.

Notice: Call recording will be coming into place

From 22nd November 2021 all calls to the Customer Services Team will be recorded.

The primary purpose for call recoding is for training and awareness. Recorded calls will also be used for quality monitoring and/or complaint handling. This will mostly be used by our Customer Service team; it may also be used as evidence when allegations are made.

Calls will be monitored and stored so that they can be referred to at a later date for up to 90 days. Calls may be retained for a longer period of time, in some circumstances, if staff have downloaded the calls within those 90 days. Their retention will then become subject to the Document and Data Retention Policy.

For more detail you can read our Privacy Notice and Call recording Policy here https://www.nwha.org.uk/cy/about-us/data-protection/.

Good Neighbour winners revealed

Thank you to everyone who entered the Good Neighbours competition.

We can now reveal that the winners are… Amy Hale of Gerddi Canada, Holyhead and Cliff Astill of Cae Clyd, Llandudno.

Find out why they were selected by reading a summary of their nominations below:

Amy Hale of Gerddi Canada, Holyhead

Amy was nominated by a neighbour who said – She does so much for myself and the neighbourhood and also for all the children. Especially throughout the summer just gone.

Cliff Astill of Cae Clyd, Llandudno

Cliff was nominated by a neighbour who said – He does a lot on the estate and is a lovely person. He always keeps an eye on everyone in our block, and takes the bins out each week. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he’s always ready to help with anything he can.

Thank you again to everyone who entered. Keep an eye out for the next NWH competition.

Changes to Universal Credit

The current increase in Universal Credit and Working Tax Credit of £20 per week, that has been paid throughout the pandemic, is due to stop at the end of September.

Please note that if you receive these benefits your income will reduce by £20 per week, or £86.67 per month before October 2021.

There is ongoing work taking place to try and encourage the Government to keep the uplift but at the moment this reduction is due to come into force at the end of September 2021.

If you require any help with budgeting to get used to this reduction in your income please contact the Rents Team on 01492 572727.

Joint working creates Safer Streets

North Wales Housing are pleased to work in partnership with North Wales Police as part of the Safer Streets government scheme.

Funded by North Wales Police, Safer Streets provides areas that have been identified as being in need with added security measures for their homes. These measures include PIR lights, alarms, gate locks, letterbox restrictors and window vibration alarms.

Neighbourhood Officer Mandy Richards visited some eligible properties in West Rhyl this July to discuss home security and deliver items that residents felt they needed, to hopefully reduce their risk of becoming victims of crime. The residents were grateful to receive their free security measures.

Taverners court resident takes on walking challenge

Taverners Court resident Val Conway, pictured in the yellow tee-shirt, celebrated her 78th birthday in June and committed to walking 78,000 steps in a week to raise money for the charity SHINE. SHINE provides specialist advice and support for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

Residents and scheme Manager Susan Gough joined Val on the first day of her fundraising and a really lovely afternoon was had by all.

Val was awarded the BEM for her services to charity in the New Years Honours list. She tirelessly raises money for a variety of charities and volunteers on a weekly basis for the Llandudno PHAB Club (Physically Handicapped and Able Bodied), although the pandemic has temporarily put paid to the weekly meetings.

Good luck to Val on your challenge!
